Crown Lengthening
Crown lengthening is a gentle procedure that adjusts the gum line to show more of your natural tooth. It’s often done for two main reasons:
-
To help with treatment – If a tooth is broken or has a cavity below the gum line, crown lengthening makes more of the tooth visible so it can be properly repaired or covered with a crown.
-
To improve your smile – If you feel your teeth look “short” or you have a “gummy smile,” this procedure can create a more balanced, natural-looking appearance.
How it Works
During the procedure, the dentist carefully reshapes the gums (and sometimes a little bone) around the tooth. It’s done with local anesthesia, so you’ll be comfortable throughout. Healing usually takes a few weeks, and then your tooth will be ready for its final restoration—or you’ll simply enjoy your new smile.
✨ Crown lengthening can make a big difference for both your dental health and your confidence. If you’d like to know if it’s right for you, we’d be happy to talk with you at your next visit.
